VACATION OVER!!!

Can I just say, I am so glad to be back in England!! I know it might seem like a horrible thing to say but it's the truth. I am happy about getting my own personal space back, my independence, my life, my daily routine. It's just a really good feeling. OK so I spent THREE MONTHS  at home (Botswana) and boy do I have a lot to say about it. First of all let me just say going back home after being used to doing your own thing is a bad idea! It's just way too much time. Of course it could be a different case with other people but for me it was a horrible idea. First of all there is chores! Gosh, how I hate doing any sort of household chores! Yes I am lazy, sue me! When you live alone you cook when you want and what you want but when you are back at home it's a different story. Anyway this post is not just about me complaining so let me get to the important stuff.  See the thing about being home is that everything is the same. Your old bed is still there, your music poster...

Growing Up

I recently reached a very important stage in my life; turning 21! Yep, I am pretty old I know. So 21, everyone looks forward to this big moment in their life. It's when the whole world recognises you as an adult! You are finally free to do whatever you want. It's like being given a canvas and paint and painting the picture that is the rest of your life. A pretty exciting moment right? wrong! Well at least for me anyway. I mean at first I was psyched, I was finally 21. What could go wrong? And then I sat down and thought, I am 21. I am in my 20s and I have nothing to show for it. Over two decades I have been on earth and I hadn't even finished school yet! It was a nightmare. My friend called it an 'early mid-life crisis'. Of  course right now I am feeling a lot better about the whole thing, I mean I am still freaking out just a little bit but I will be ok. The point I am trying to make is even though growing up is great and everything, it can also be scary. The older...

A fresh start

It's that time of the year again, you know the beginning of the year where everyone is so excited about all the things they are going to do that they didn't accomplish in the previous year. Firstly let me say Happy New Year, welcome to the year 2014! Every year I realize how older I am getting, not a good thought... Anyway that's not the point of this post. New Year Resolutions, I am pretty sure by now everyone has heard someone they know talk about them. Every beginning of the year people have that new found confidence and inspiration to turn their lives around and do something new, I applaud them. Not everyone can do that. Let's be honest here I am pretty sure more than half of the time new year resolutions are a bust. Sure in the first few weeks of January you are all excited, pumped up and ready to take on the world. But who are we kidding, after a while we kind of get tired, give up and go back to our normal lives. It happens every year and for a while I wondered w...

Endless Possibilities

Every child has a dream, it may be to be a cop, a doctor or even a singer. The point is we all had dreams and at that young age we all thought they could happen. We had hope. But once you grow older and see the world more as it is you kind of loose hope. I don't know about you but I remember a time when I thought all my dreams were stupid and pointless and unachievable. If you didn't go through that stage then I admire your perseverance. The world can be a harsh place and if you aren't strong enough it can crush your dreams. And then a miracle happens, we go to university. At university we are presented with an opportunity to re-invent ourselves, to become those people that we never thought we could become. At that point in life you have nothing to lose. I know different universities have different opportunities. But at this crucial time in your life apply yourself. Do all those things you dared not to do. If you don't do them now you will never get the chance again an...

Giving Up

Last week I was presented with the opportunity of a lifetime, applying to the biggest financial institution in the world for a summer internship. The process was long and tedious and mentally exhausting that I decided to take the easy way out. After two full hours of filling the online application form I gave up on the very last task I had to complete. And now I will never know if I would have gotten in or not. Often in life we are faced with challenges that literally drain the lives out of us and we give up. It's not something to be proud of but it is the easy way out and I agree. But if everything in life was easy then we really would not have much appreciation for it. A hard earned C is so much more fulfilling than an easy A. We feel much more accomplished when we have overcome an obstacle. Sure giving up is much easier to handle, you don't have to face rejection or failure. And failure is such a hard pill to swallow but once in a while you have to fail to learn how to succe...

"Love"

Can I let you on on a big secret? I am a sucker for love, romance, fairytale ending, the works. And for the first time I am happy to say I am not ashamed of it. Why should I be? Sure love hurts and it involves heartache and drama and binge eating - okay if I don't stop now I might retract that statement. I just recently discovered a poet called Rumi, he said: All we need is love's confusing joy . Dude was on point! If we are all really honest with ourselves we know what we want and that is someone who will accept us with our perfections and imperfections. Someone who will never leave no matter the mistakes we find ourselves making. Basically someone to love us. But lets face it, we are afraid. Everyone is afraid to open up, to be vulnerable, to give someone else the power to hurt us, some more than others. Truth be told I am scared too, just like everyone else the fear of getting hurt stops me from enjoying the fruits of love. But who can blame me, look around, nobody really ...

Taking What Is Not Yours

Karma..What goes around comes back around. I have never believed in karma to be honest, life isn't fair. Sometimes bad things happen to good people and good things to bad people. Its's not really up to us, that is what I always thought. But now I might have a change of heart. I have always heard the expression if you get a girl/boy in a deceitful way the same person will be taken from you in the same way. Don't know if that makes sense, let me try to clarify it. Let's say for example you met a girl who was in a relationship with another person and for some reason you hit it off and that decides you know what you are worth her time and dumps her current boyfriend. Someone else will come and do the same thing to you, I think that is clear enough. I didn't believe it at first but it happened to me and now I actually think Karma exists. Scary thought looking at all the horrible deeds I have committed in the past. I hope karma has a moral compass and only punishes you on...
