A fresh start

It's that time of the year again, you know the beginning of the year where everyone is so excited about all the things they are going to do that they didn't accomplish in the previous year. Firstly let me say Happy New Year, welcome to the year 2014! Every year I realize how older I am getting, not a good thought... Anyway that's not the point of this post. New Year Resolutions, I am pretty sure by now everyone has heard someone they know talk about them. Every beginning of the year people have that new found confidence and inspiration to turn their lives around and do something new, I applaud them. Not everyone can do that. Let's be honest here I am pretty sure more than half of the time new year resolutions are a bust. Sure in the first few weeks of January you are all excited, pumped up and ready to take on the world. But who are we kidding, after a while we kind of get tired, give up and go back to our normal lives. It happens every year and for a while I wondered w...

Endless Possibilities

Every child has a dream, it may be to be a cop, a doctor or even a singer. The point is we all had dreams and at that young age we all thought they could happen. We had hope. But once you grow older and see the world more as it is you kind of loose hope. I don't know about you but I remember a time when I thought all my dreams were stupid and pointless and unachievable. If you didn't go through that stage then I admire your perseverance. The world can be a harsh place and if you aren't strong enough it can crush your dreams. And then a miracle happens, we go to university. At university we are presented with an opportunity to re-invent ourselves, to become those people that we never thought we could become. At that point in life you have nothing to lose. I know different universities have different opportunities. But at this crucial time in your life apply yourself. Do all those things you dared not to do. If you don't do them now you will never get the chance again an...

Giving Up

Last week I was presented with the opportunity of a lifetime, applying to the biggest financial institution in the world for a summer internship. The process was long and tedious and mentally exhausting that I decided to take the easy way out. After two full hours of filling the online application form I gave up on the very last task I had to complete. And now I will never know if I would have gotten in or not. Often in life we are faced with challenges that literally drain the lives out of us and we give up. It's not something to be proud of but it is the easy way out and I agree. But if everything in life was easy then we really would not have much appreciation for it. A hard earned C is so much more fulfilling than an easy A. We feel much more accomplished when we have overcome an obstacle. Sure giving up is much easier to handle, you don't have to face rejection or failure. And failure is such a hard pill to swallow but once in a while you have to fail to learn how to succe...

"Love"

Can I let you on on a big secret? I am a sucker for love, romance, fairytale ending, the works. And for the first time I am happy to say I am not ashamed of it. Why should I be? Sure love hurts and it involves heartache and drama and binge eating - okay if I don't stop now I might retract that statement. I just recently discovered a poet called Rumi, he said: All we need is love's confusing joy . Dude was on point! If we are all really honest with ourselves we know what we want and that is someone who will accept us with our perfections and imperfections. Someone who will never leave no matter the mistakes we find ourselves making. Basically someone to love us. But lets face it, we are afraid. Everyone is afraid to open up, to be vulnerable, to give someone else the power to hurt us, some more than others. Truth be told I am scared too, just like everyone else the fear of getting hurt stops me from enjoying the fruits of love. But who can blame me, look around, nobody really ...

Taking What Is Not Yours

Karma..What goes around comes back around. I have never believed in karma to be honest, life isn't fair. Sometimes bad things happen to good people and good things to bad people. Its's not really up to us, that is what I always thought. But now I might have a change of heart. I have always heard the expression if you get a girl/boy in a deceitful way the same person will be taken from you in the same way. Don't know if that makes sense, let me try to clarify it. Let's say for example you met a girl who was in a relationship with another person and for some reason you hit it off and that decides you know what you are worth her time and dumps her current boyfriend. Someone else will come and do the same thing to you, I think that is clear enough. I didn't believe it at first but it happened to me and now I actually think Karma exists. Scary thought looking at all the horrible deeds I have committed in the past. I hope karma has a moral compass and only punishes you on...

On Stranger Tides

Its been a long while since I blogged, I wonder why. Maybe it has to do with the fact that school ended and i went back home, I tend to get lazy when I am there. So now I have to explain everything that has been happening in my life. Like the fact that i moved cities, well cities is an understatement. I moved across the ocean, I am in England now!! Yes you heard right, England. The land of the British or is it the Queen, whichever point is I am here. It has been a long 3 and something weeks. On paper it sounds so short but trust me a lot has happened. My new school or should I say University is in Leicester, a small town in England. I am still studying Economics so that has not changed. But so many things have, for example it is colder here, more strangers here. Okay that last bit didn't make sense but you catch my drift, I am living in a foreign land. I had to start over, make new friends, get accustomed to the people here, their ways, their accent, the list goes on. I will be lyi...

The Jealousy Pradox

So i recently discovered that someone actually reads my blog and they think its good..yaay! for me. I have a fan. I know it might seem like a small thing but its a pretty big deal for me. Right about today's blog, the jealousy paradox. I have never been the jealous type, in every relationship i have had except this one. Its pretty new to me i don't know how to react to it. It sucks big time it seems like i have some serious insecurity problems which might be true. The point is i ain't used to it. So who gets jealous? There is a saying that a jealous girlfriend is a faithful girlfriend. So does that mean if someone isn't jealous of their competition then they aren't faithful? That's the mystery. If that is the case then that means all the relationships i have had in the past i wasn't committed to them, i didn't care. Weird...i thought i did. It doesn't help to be in a relationship with someone who is super confident and chilled either, they just make ...
